Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan

Contributor: Traci DeVito

Chicken Parmesan in the air fryer is amazing. Nice and crispy breaded chicken topped with sauce and cheese. It tastes just like the oven baked classic but you don’t have to heat up the oven or wait as long for it to cook.

  • 4 (6 oz.) boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 and ¼ cups plain breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp. dried thyme
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. ground black pepper
  • 2 egg whites
  • 2 tsp. Dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup marinara sauce
  • 4 oz. mozzarella cheese

  1. Preheat air fryer to 360°F.
  2. Pound chicken breasts to 1/4 inch thickness.
  3. In small shallow bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, vegetable oil, thyme, salt and pepper.
  4. In another shallow bowl, combine the egg whites and Dijon mustard.
  5. Dredge chicken in egg mixture and then the breadcrumb mixture.
  6. Place chicken in the air fryer and spray the top with oil. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes, then turn. Top with 1 tablespoon sauce and 1 ounce mozzarella cheese and cook for 3 to 4 minutes longer, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F. If using a smaller air fryer, you will need to cook in batches.
  7. Garnish with parsley, if desired, and serve immediately.
