Ingredients
- 2 cups ketchup
- ¾ cup filtered water
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup honey
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
- ½ Tbsp. onion powder
- 1 tsp. pepper
Instructions
- Place all ingredients in a saucepan on the stove over medium heat. Bring to a boil and then lower to a simmer until sauce thickens, about 30 minutes. Be sure to whisk periodically so sauce doesn’t stick to pan.

Thanks for the recipe. As a beekeeper I love all things “honey”. Barbecue sauce, marinades and vinaigrette’s are all great with honey. But not all honey is alike. When you’re at your local farmers market you’ll notice the different colors of the honey. If you can find dark honey, the color of molasses, this is the perfect honey for barbecue sauce. Typically, it has a bolder flavor so it stands up to all the strong flavors in bbq, marinades and vinaigrette dressings. Also, you can reduce the sugar. for instance, in this recipe, you can completely eliminate the brown sugar. the honey will give that rich sugar flavor. And, you don’t need to cook the recipe as long because you don’t have to “melt” the brown sugar. Give it a try. I know you’ll bee delighted.
