How to Shred Lettuce

  • 1 whole head iceberg lettuce

Instructions

  1. Using a paring knife cut a deep circle around the bottom stem of the lettuce head, keeping the circle close to the stem.
  2. Using your fingers, wiggle out the stem and core.
  3. Place the lettuce, core-side down, on a secured cutting board. Using a chef’s knife, cut the head of lettuce in half.
  4. Working with one half at a time, cut-side-down, make thin slices across the lettuce, starting from either side. The thinner the slices, the finer the shred will be.
