Whiskey adds a level of flavor to bbq sauce that’s perfect on any protein. We’re showing you how to cook off the alcohol so everyone can enjoy our Jack Daniel’s BBQ Sauce.
Cooking with alcohol always gives food a depth of flavor that’s hard to attain otherwise. This Jack Daniel’s BBQ Sauce is a perfect example. The alcohol is cooked out of the whiskey first so it’s safe for any age. The resulting bbq sauce had a depth of flavor that is both sweet and tangy – exactly what you want in a bbq sauce.
This recipe uses tomato sauce to balance out the sweetness for a classic barbecue flavor. Using brown sugar rather than white sugar helps the sauce caramelize as well as gives it a rich sweetness and cuts the acidity from the tomato sauce. Adding Worcestershire and soy sauce rounds out the sauce with umami flavors that makes you want to lick your fingers…and your plate (shhhh! We won’t tell if you don’t).
Adding just a bit of sriracha brings a slow heat to this sauce while keeping the heat level tolerable for just about anyone. But if you love our Spicy BBQ Sauce and want to kick this one up a notch, add a full teaspoon for a full on sweet and spicy bbq sauce.Print
