This month we’re celebrating white fish with tips on how to buy the best fish, and the recipes that will make it more delicious than ever.
Breaded and pan-fried fish fillets were a staple in my house growing up, and they were also part of our traditional Ukrainian meatless Christmas Eve dinner. They were therefore both everyday food and special food. Strangely enough though, we didn’t eat white fish in many other preparations, and to this day, I still find myself stuck in that rut.
For this reason, I am delighted to tell you about the series on White Fish that Jill Silverman Hough has created for us here on TheCookful. Jill’s knowledge about fish, both how to choose it, and how to cook it perfectly, shine through in every single article and recipe.
You’ll find Jill’s information on the types and classification of white fish and on how to choose white fish especially helpful. And then, those recipes!
Whether you want to do that standard pan-fried fish, or try it in the air fryer, or do a whole roasted Branzino, or use it in a pasta or a classic soup, you will find everything you could ever want. And, as always, Jill’s skills at recipe development really come through so that every recipe is truly the best possible version you could find. I am always so delighted when Jill shares recipes with us on our site, and I know you’re going to love exploring them too.
A little bit about Jill: Jill is all about happy cooking and delicious food. Her cookbooks include Finger Lickin’ Chicken, 100 Perfect Pairings: Small Plates to Enjoy with Wines You Love, 100 Perfect Pairings: Main Dishes to Enjoy with Wines You Love, and The Clean Plates Cookbook. Her recipes, writing, and photography have appeared in magazines including Bon Appétit, Cooking Light, Clean Eating, where she’s on the advisory board, and Fine Cooking, where she’s the drinks editor.
If you love Jill’s white fish recipes, check out the other series that she has done for us on Salmon and Party Foods with Wine Pairings. I’ve tried so many of these recipes and I can never get over how good they are.
Enjoy! -Christine xo
