Taco Lettuce Wraps

Taco Lettuce Wraps are basically tacos without the shell! Not only are they healthier but they’re so delicious.

Hands up if you’re looking for more healthy dinner options in your life. You know, the kind that don’t taste like deprivation? Taco Lettuce Wraps are where it’s at.

I adore these taco lettuce wraps for many reasons, but mainly because they’re easy to make, packed full of flavor and so colorful.  Don’t get me wrong, I do love my regular tacos, but I love having a healthier, low carb option for weeknight meals.

These are so easy to make, requiring simple ingredients such as ground turkey, taco seasoning, and traditional taco toppings like cheese, avocado, salsa and sour cream! Tied together in a crunchy lettuce wrap, these wraps are bursting with flavor and texture!

Ingredients For Taco Lettuce Wraps

First, you’ll need some ground turkey (or you can sub in chicken). I like using turkey because it’s lean and contains a lot of protein.

In addition, you’ll need some taco seasoning. To keep it healthy, look for low sodium and low sugar taco seasonings. Or, you can make your own taco seasoning using ingredients that you probably have in your pantry.

What Toppings Can You Use?

I like to keep the toppings relatively traditional and simple, as if I was making regular tacos at home. I use:

I like to stick to the above, but you can also add corn or black beans.

What Lettuce to Use For Wraps?

A key part in this recipe is the lettuce you use to substitute your traditional corn or wheat wrap. Preferably, I like to use iceberg lettuce. However, if this is unavailable, then use Romaine lettuce or larger leafy lettuce like Boston or Bib lettuce.

When choosing a lettuce, make sure it looks crispy and fresh. Wilted lettuce will add an unpleasant taste and texture to your taco wraps. You need larger leaves that are big enough to fit your turkey mince and toppings.

This recipe feeds a crowd so invite some friends over. Taco Tuesday’s looking tastier than ever!
