Barry Pittman

Barry Pittman has been in the food industry for most of his adult life. His first career was as a Federal Meat Inspector for the Canadian government. If you have any questions about food safety, and specifically meat safety, he's your guy! He also had a business early on making sausages and smoking them. If you want to taste delicious kielbasa and pepperoni, he is also your guy for that! Later, in his career, he and his wife, Phyllis Pittman, nee Melnyk, opened a series of successful restaurants in Manitoba, most notably the Perogy Patch and Deli in Lockport and The Falcon Lake Deli in The Whiteshell Provincial Park. From this long career in food, Barry has a wealth of knowledge about cooking and especially about meat, making him the ideal person for TheCookful's series on Sausage-Making At Home!
