What Is Green Goddess Dressing?
Green Goddess salad dressings have been around for decades. There is a lot of variety in ingredients, but the main characteristics that can be found across all the recipes is that it’s a creamy dressing and, of course, it’s some shade of green.
Many Green Goddess recipes use mayonnaise or sour cream for the creaminess, but Greek yogurt can also be used. However, with cottage cheese trending, I decided to share a version I love that uses low-fat cottage cheese.
Using Cottage Cheese In Salad Dressings
I’m a fan of using cottage cheese not just in homemade dressings, but also in dips. Seriously, make the classic Hidden Valley Ranch dip that’s sour cream and a packet of ranch seasoning, but use half cottage cheese and half sour cream, it’s amazing!
For a cottage cheese dressing though, I don’t really want the curds in there. It’s more about the subtle cheese flavor, tang, and richness, all while being a lighter food. And so, I blend it in the blender with some water and herbs to get the desired consistency, and voila! Delicious creamy salad dressing. I also like to blend it up when I make Green Goddess Cottage Cheese Dip.
What Greens Go In Green Goddess Dressing?
You can use whatever herbs you like. Basil, dill, and chives were my choice when I made this, but really, anything green will go! Just put a lot of it because you want that green hue.
Other great options include parsley, tarragon, cilantro, arugula, and watercress. You can use any combination of fresh greens, but I suggest picking two or three you like for a wonderful, well-rounded taste.
Why Is There Mustard In The Cottage Cheese Dressing?
Why is there mustard in this cottage cheese salad dressing recipe? Well, that TikTok trend is all about the cottage cheese and the mustard, right? But actually, a touch of mustard does wonders in all kinds of salad dressings.
The recipe calls for plain yellow mustard, which I also think helps make the green color extra bright. But, you can use Dijon for something smoother, or you could use mustard powder if you want a little heat (start with 1/2 teaspoon and increase if desired).

So thankful for this recipe as have digestive issues that prevent use of garlic and onions. Also low fat only. Yahooo this is delicious. I used my fresh parsley, basil, mint, thyme and dill and keep taste testing. Excellent dressing and great with salads and baked potatoes. Thank you!

I added some garlic and lemon juice because I may have added too much basil. It was delicious and so much healthier!
